Virginian-Pilot, March 21, 1932
Mrs. Phoebe Jane Scott, aged 90 years, widow of George Scott, and daughter of 
the late George and Polly Ellen Tucker Taylor, died yesterday morning at 9:15 
o'clock at the residence of her son-in-law, Walter A. Edmonds, 325 Thirty-sixth 
Street. Mrs. Scott was a native of Morgan County, Illinois, and had been a 
resident of Norfolk for the past 49 years. Surviving her are four daughters, 
Mrs. J. H. Gourley, Mrs. A. J. Odell, Mrs. A. F. Penzold and Mrs. Walter A. 
Edmonds; two sons, S. D., and O. G. Scott, a number of grand and
great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Sallie 
grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Sallie Tellings, of Illinois. Mrs. Scott was 
a consistent member of Park Place M. E. Church. Funeral services will be 
conducted at the above residence Thursday at 12 o'clock noon by the Rev. H. P. 
Myers, D. D., pastor of Park Place M. E. Church. Interment will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
