J. Jasper Freeman, pastor of Queen Street Baptist Church, conducting. Mrs. Scott, 76, died in a local hospital after a short illness. A native of Mecklenburg county, she was the widow of Joseph Scott. Active in church work, Mrs. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church, where she belonged to the senior choir, Missionary Circle, Pastor’s Aid and the Hope Bible Band. She is survived by three sons: Henderson Scott of New York,Raymond Scott and Dennis O. Scott of Norfolk; four daughters: Mrs. Artelia Walker,Mrs. Hazel Scott, Mrs. Nellie S. Thomas and Mrs. Lulu S. Smith, all of Norfolk, and a brother, Forrest Gaines of Norfolk. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, with Pretlows Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
