Norfolk - A funeral service for Mrs. Lula Tanner Scott of 823 W. 42nd street was
held at First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, recently, with the Rev. J. Jasper
Freeman, pastor of Queen Street Baptist Church, conducting.

Mrs. Scott, 76, died in a local hospital after a short illness. A native of
Mecklenburg county, she was the widow of Joseph Scott.

Active in church work, Mrs. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church, where
she belonged to the senior choir, Missionary Circle, Pastor’s Aid and the Hope
Bible Band.

She is survived by three sons: Henderson Scott of New York,Raymond Scott and
Dennis O. Scott of Norfolk; four daughters: Mrs. Artelia Walker,Mrs. Hazel
Scott, Mrs. Nellie S. Thomas and Mrs. Lulu S. Smith, all of Norfolk, and a
brother, Forrest Gaines of Norfolk.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, with Pretlows Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
