Newport News - Andrew Anthony Scruggs, 55, of 912 Moyer Road, died Friday in
Riverside Hospital. He was a native of Richmond and the husband of Mrs. Helen
Owins Scruggs.

He was a cryogenic engineer for Airco Industrial Gases. He was a Navy veteran of
World War II and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Survivors include his stepmother, Mrs. Margaret C. Scruggs of Richmond; three
daughters, Miss Karen Anne Scruggs, Miss Helen Louise Scruggs,and Miss Mary
Susan Scruggs of the home; a son, Michael Anthony Scruggs of Richmond; a sister,
Mrs. Marian Loher of Fairfax; and a brother, Francis G. Scruggs of Richmond.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. Jack Larkin. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery,
Norfolk, with Weymouth Funeral Home in charge. An Office of the Dead will be
recited tonight at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
