Virginian-Pilot  October 4, 1871
Sunday morning, October 1st, at 2 1/2 o'clock, GEORGE SEARLS, in the 41st year of 
his age.

The deceased was born in the city of Cork, Ireland, and came to this city in 1835, 
where he resided up to the hour of his death.  He leaves, to mourn his loss, a 
wife and three children.  A man of manly qualities and noble impulses, his death 
is lamented by a large circle of friends.  Peace to his ashes.
