Born May 3, 1962, in Marbury, Md., she was the daughter of the late James Alexander Warren Sr. and the late Alice Carolyn Warren (Jones). She attended Charles County Public Schools and always remained active in church throughout her life. Her devotion and faith in the Lord was always evident in her actions. Janice was a very hard worker. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed music, good food, spending time with family, and amusement parks. Throughout her life Janice always saw the good in others and no one could ever mistake that "million dollar smile" that she always wore. At a very young age Janice always knew that she wanted to defend her country. She was granted that opportunity at the age of 18 when she joined the Army. Joining the Army allowed Janice to travel and service our country in Fort Benning, Ga.; Teague, South Korea; and Neu-Ulm, Germany. It was during her first active duty station at Fort Benning that she met her husband of 27 years, Morell Sears . For the last 10 years, until her health began to fail, Janice worked at Geico in Virginia Beach as a clerk. She was well known by many and received multiple accolades for her good work and willingness to help others. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Morell Sears ; one daughter, Joy Sears ; one goddaughter, Katina Thomas; one godson, Melvin Jones Jr. (Mel Jr.); four brothers, Melvin Rodney, Michael Jones, and Ricky Jones; four sisters, Sheila Jones, Jeanette Walls, Audrey Carrington and Cecelia Jones; two devoted half-sisters, Hilda Warren and Hazel Ward; three sisters-in-law, Annie Jones, Loretta Jones, and Laverne Jones; three brothers-in-law, Wallace Walls, Richard Carrington, and Richard Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Janice will always be remembered for her devotion to helping others and her free- spirited personality. Her homegoing celebration will be held Friday, Jan. 28, starting with a viewing at 10 a.m. at Little Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2804 Holland Road Virginia Beach, VA 23453, (757) 427-6831. The official service will begin at 11 a.m. Immediately after the service she will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, 1600 St. Julian Ave., Norfolk, VA 23504, (757) 441-2654.
