The Rev. E. Paul Simms, First Baptist pastor, officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of Riddick Funeral Home. A native of Norfolk, Mr. Sears was the son of the late William H. Sears and Mrs. Eunice M. Sears. A carpenter for the past 10 years, he was a former Naval Air Station employee, and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys T. Sears; two sons, Samuel O. Sears of the Air Force and Ronald Sears of New York; two daughters, Miss Delores Sears and Mrs. Alice S. Moore of New York; six sisters, Miss Lula M. Sears of Hampton and Mrs. Lucy McCray of Phoenix, AZ; Mrs. Henrietta S. Childs of Washington; Mrs. Evelyn Taylor, Mrs. Eunice Frazier, and Mrs. Floretta Thomas of Norfolk; and four brothers, Capt. Charles W. Sears and Capt. Thomas E. Sears, both of the Army: Odell H. Sears of New York and Henry H. Sears of Norfolk.
