Seymour died at his home corner Charles street and Highland avenue early yesterday morning. He was 86 years old and was one of the most holy men in the community. All that knew him were impressed with his godly walk and conversation. He leaves a devoted wife and a number of children, who feel well assured that their sad loss is his great gain. He was the oldest member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, where his funeral will take place this afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. J.J. Hall, D.D., officiating. **************************************************************** Park Avenue Baptist Church was the scene Sunday at 4 p.m. of a most solemn impressive service, it being the occasion of the funeral of the venerable Daniel A. Seymour, an influential member of this church. The pastor, Rev. J.J. Hall, D.D., used the following appropriate passage as text for his discourse: "And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches and honor," I Chron. xxix:28. The chair which this godly man always occupied at church was draped in mourning and was a conspicuous feature of the funeral scenery. Members of other churches, who were admirers of the deceased, were among the many friends and brethren who paid this last tribute of respect,. Rev. W.F. Watson, of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, took a part in the service. Remains were taken to Berkley for interment in Magnolia Cemetery. The following are the names of the pallbearers: Messrs. A.B. Walker, Jno. W. Whitehurst, A.H. Ashburn, Dennis Etheridge, Robert Goode and John R. Powell.
