Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark October 24, 1920

Mrs. Elizabeth W. Shaffer, widow of Jacob L. Shaffer, died yesterday afternoon at 
6:30 o'clock at the residence, 524 Connecticut Avenue. Mrs. Shaffer was a native 
of Norfolk and was in her fifty-eighth year. She was well known and highly 
esteemed. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Virginia D. Shaffer; two sons, Jacob 
L. and Gordon C. Shaffer; two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Lannigan and Mrs. M.I. Old; one 
brother, Claude West and four grandchildren, all of Norfolk. She was a member of 
St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
