S. SHAFFER, NORFOLK LAWYER AND SPORTSMAN J. Stanley Shaffer, 64, an attorney of 1217 Colonial Ave., a lifelong resident of Norfolk, died Monday at 12:50 a.m. in a hospital. He was a son of Mrs. Mary Bangley Shaffer and the late Jacob L. Shaffer. Known as "Pop" in his earlier days he managed area amateur baseball teams. He was a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Besides his mother, surviving are two brothers, Gordon F. Shaffer and Claude B. Shaffer of Washington. The rosary will be recited in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, tonight at 7:30. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
