Charles L. Shaffer - Funeral services for Charles L. Shaffer, 10-year-old-son of 
Mary Shaffer Dalton, and the late Dixon Shaffer, who was drowned while bathing at 
Chesapeake Beach, Thursday afternoon, were held at 2:30 o’clock yesterday 
afternoon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Monsignor Thomas E. Waters, 
pastor, officiating. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. 
Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were Webster Lawler, Herman 
Kaufman, Julian Kaufmann, James B. Oliver, Reginald Davies and Frederick Davies. 
During the service, the children’s choir of Sacred Heart School sang "Dear Sacred 
Heart" and "When Shall I See Thee Face to Face,” with Mrs. C. R. Davies, organist. 
The casket was covered with a double-cluster of pink roses, white carnations and 
ferns.
