NORFOLK — Mrs. Mary Bangley Shaffer, 86, of 533 Sterling St., died in a Washington 
hospital Sunday.

She was the widow of Jacob L. Shaffer and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. 
Bangley.

A Norfolk native and lifelong resident of this area, she was a member of Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, Claud D. Shaffer and Gordon F. Shaffer of Washington; and 
five grandchildren.

The Office of the Dead will be recited in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 
Norfolk, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Thursday at 10 a.m. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will be at 533 Sterling St.
