A native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, Mr. Shaffer had been engaged in the book and stationery business at 107 Granby Street 30 years. He was Secretary of the Norfolk Democratic Committee, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and Norfolk Council No. 367, Knights of Columbus. Son of the late Jacob Louis and Mrs. Elizabeth Myers Shaffer, Mr. Shaffer is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Shaffer; three sons, J. Stanley, Claude D. and Gordon F. Shaffer; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. B. A. Dozier, and several nieces and nephews. The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for funeral services Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow night at 8 o'clock.
