Norfolk - Mrs. Nettie L. Shambry of 1335 W. 44th street, the widow of Ashley
Shambry, died recently in a hospital after a short illness.

A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of the late James and Mrs. Lottie R. Jones.

She was a past president of the Senior Choir of First Baptist Church, Lamberts
Point, and a past matron of Excelsior Eastern Star Chapter 82.

Surviving are three sons, Ashley Shambry Jr., Roland Shambry, and Edward
Shambry;  and three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Avery, Mrs. Maxine Scott, and Mrs.
Elaine Jowers, all of Norfolk;  two brothers, Ulysses Jones of Long Island, NY
and Mercie Jones of Richmond;  five sisters, Mrs. Kate Kindred, Mrs. Alice
Wooden, and Mrs. Laverne Holley of Norfolk, Mrs. Pricie Daniels and Mrs. Essie
Smalls of New York;  19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held in First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, by the Rev.
M. L. Williams.  Burial was in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery with Hale
Funeral Home in charge.
