NORFOLK, Mrs. Sadie Winer Shames, 72, of 1015 Redgate Ave., died Friday at 8:30 
a.m. in a  hospital.
She was the widow of David Shames and the daughter of Hyman and Sarah Lee 
Winer. A native of Russia, she lived in Norfolk 59 years. She was a member of 
B'Nai Israel Congregation, B'Nai Israel Sisterhood and Golden Age Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Anne Kirshon of Portsmouth and Mrs. 
Semmie Plower of Norfolk; two sons, George Shames of Miami and Edward D. Shames 
of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Gissie Katz of Norfolk; Mrs. Sophie Fink of 
Newport News and Mrs. Rae Perlman of Norfolk; and a brother, Ben Winer of 
Norfolk.
A funeral service will be held in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts Sunday at 3 p.m. by 
Rabbi Israel Bornstein of B'Nai Israel Congregation. Burial will be in B'Nai 
Israel Cemetery. The family will be at 137 Belvedere Road.
