Kelvit E. Shaw of 800 E. 27th St., assistant pastor for 10 years of St. Paul CME Church, died Wednesday in a hospital. A native of Norfolk, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Georgia E. Shaw. He worked 45 years for G.L. Hall Optical Co. and retired. He was a retired church trustee, a steward, lay leader, missionary, member of the Board of Christian Education, Board of Evangelism, and was active in the Sunday School Department and on the building committee for the present church site. He also was a member of the Norfolk Social and Beneficial Association and Buffalo Lodge. Survivors include a son, Kelvit E. Shaw of Pomona, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Edward of Chesapeake and Mrs. Helen Coffield of Norfolk; five brothers, Leroy Brown, Wilbert Brown, George T. Brown Jr., Charles Edwards, and Arthur Edwards of Norfolk; and three grandchildren. A funeral will e held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul CME Church by the Rev. Larry S. Howard. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Graves Funeral Home in charge. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. Sunday. The family will be at his home.
