He had been in failing health since 1949 when he retired from the Virginia Railway where he had worked over 40 years. A native of Franklinton, NC, Mr. Shaw came to Norfolk before World War I. He was a veteran of World War I. He was chairman of the trustee board of Second Calvary Baptist Church until his health failed. He served as chairman over 30 years. The funeral was held at Second Calvary Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. Dr. H. W. B. Walker, pastor, officiated. The pallbearers were deacons and trustees of the church. Mr. Shaw is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edna Shaw; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Tharrington, Franklinton NC, and Mrs. Florence Harris, Chicago; three brothers, Benjamin and William Shaw, Pittsburgh, and Anderson Shaw, Franklinton NC,and several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral service in charge of funeral arrangements.
