NORFOLK - Katherine Frances Shaw, 81, of the 8000 block of Danbury Drive, suddenly 
and peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord Sept. 4, 2009.

Mrs. Shaw was born in Great Neck, N.Y., the daughter of the late Jeremiah Shanahan 
and Hannah Foley Shanahan. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Kit was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Culpepper and Marie Adrian and 
her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Shaw. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, James 
Edmond Shaw; four sons, Kevin J. Shaw and his wife Valerie of Upper Marlboro, Md., 
Darby J. Shaw of Virginia Beach, Mick Shaw and his wife Kathy of Norfolk, Teig F. 
Shaw and his wife Melissa, also of Norfolk. Mrs. Shaw is also survived by a 
brother, Jerry Shanahan and his wife Alma of Great Neck, N.Y.; and five 
grandchildren, Heather Shaw Menis, Meghan Mulholland, Kelly Abel, Casey Shaw and 
Brendan Shaw.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 9, 2009, at St. Pius X 
Catholic Church by Father Venancio R. Balarote. A Christian wake will be held at 
the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m. by Deacon Walker King. H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be
