Norfolk - Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Rebecca Shaw, pioneer resident here,
who died October 25 at her home, 2427 Ludlow street, were held on October 31 at
the Holy Temple Church with A. D. Smith introducing the officiating minister.
The Revs. J. N. Fuller, R. J. Alston, and H. T. Myers assisted. The obituary was
read by Miss Etta Carter. Mrs. Shaw was an active member of the Missionary
Circle of the church and an ardent worker in the community. She was a native of
Churchland, VA, and lived in Norfolk for about 50 years.

She is survived by her husband, two children, Mrs. M. Powers and Roosevelt
Sutton of Philadelphia; a sister, three brothers, two grandchildren, and other
relatives. Interment, in Calvary Cemetery, was directed by Hale and Company.

The family of the late Mrs. Julia Shaw wish to thank the many friends for all
kindness shown during her short illness and at her death. Also for the many
comforting messages of sympathy, beautiful floral designs and for the use of
their cars.
