Earl Shell Sr. of 1000 Walcott avenue, who died Nov 30 in a Norfolk hospital,
was given final rites Tuesday at Riddick Funeral Home.

Mr. Shell was a retired longshoreman who worked on the piers for 43 years.  

His eulogy was delivered by the Rev. John R. Gray of Mt. Gilead Baptist church.
 Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

A member of Local 1248 of the International Longshoreman’s Association, Mr.
Shell was a native of Whitmire SC.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Bonney of Norfolk;  two sons, John and
Earl Shell Jr., also of Norfolk;  a sister, Mrs. Rosa Lee Gist of Newark NJ; 
and eight grandchildren.
