The Virginian Pilot Friday December 17, 1971
Alfred West Shelton Sr., 84, of 1606 Bainbridge Blvd., South Norfolk, died 
Thursday in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.
A native of Petersburg, he lived here most of his life. He was the husband 
of Biancy W. Shelton and a son of Charles and Mrs. Elizabeth Eppes Shelton.
He was a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church.
Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Alfred W. Shelton Jr. of Norfolk, 
four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral 
Home by the Rev. William C. Hoffman of St. Brides Church. Burial will be in 
Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk.
