Funeral services will be conducted at the residence Tuesday at 12 o'clock noon, the Rev. H.H. Covington, D.D., rector of St. Paul's Church, officiating. Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Shepherd was in his 63rd year. He was born in Petersburg, but moved to Princess Anne County when he was quite young and he spent his early life in that county. For the past 37 years he had been a practicing physician in Norfolk. For many years he served as health commissioner and bacteriologist for the city of Norfolk. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity and a vestryman of St. Paul's Church. Dr. Shepherd is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Cartwright Shepherd; two daughters, Mrs. James D. Brooke and Miss Virginia Shepherd; one son, Capt. L. C. Shepherd, U.S. Marine Corps; one sister, Miss Sallie G. Shepherd and three grandchildren, all of Norfolk and one brother, John W.C. Shepherd, of Meeker, Colo.
