Calista V. Sheppard, a retired principal of elementary school

NORFOLK - Calistra V. Sheppard, 95, of 826 Lexington Ave., a retired elementary 
school principal, died Saturday in her home. She was a native of Hampton and a 
graduate of Hampton Institute.

Ms. Sheppard, who retired after 20 years, formerly was principal of Liberty Park 
Elementary School. She held a master's degree from Columbia University and was a 
member of First United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three grandnieces, Linda Corrien and Elizabeth Brown both of 
New York, and Lois Lafayette of California; and a grandnephew, Weldon Irvin of 
New York.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Graves Funeral Chapel by the 
Rev. Otis J. Wynn. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at her 
home.
