The Virginian Pilot Wednesday January 2, 1980 

Earl (Pete) Shields Jr., 25, of 2433 Dominion Ave., the husband of Suzanne 
Walker Shields and a native of Norfolk, died Monday in a hospital.
He was a son of Earl Gilbert Shields Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Beckie Shields of 
Norfolk.
He was employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a nuclear pipefitter.
Other survivors include two sons, Earl Gilbert Shields III and Christopher 
Daniel Shields of Norfolk, a sister, Mrs. Sheilah Egan of Alexandria; and 
maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dora Campbell of Norfolk.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Third Presbyterian Church, 
Carlton and Templar streets, by the Rev. Charles M. Durham. Burial with a 2:45 
p.m. service will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Hollomon-
Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, tonight from 7-9. Memorial 
donations may be made to the Third Presbyterian Church memorial fund.
