Virginian-Pilot  October 10, 1901
The funeral of Mr. Francis Shields was held from St. Mary’s Catholic church at 10 
o’clock yesterday morning. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father John J. 
Doherty. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery. Following were the pall-bearers: 
Messrs. Thomas Murray, B. H. Keys, Patrick Scullion, Felix Oakes, Robert Murray 
and William Hart.
