Mrs. Shipowitz was a native of Portsmouth. She was the widow of Julius Shipowitz. She was a member of Congregation Beth El in Norfolk, an active member of the Norfolk Chapter of Hadassah, B'Nai Brith, Jewish Ladies Hebrew Charity and Beth El Sisterhood. She was a volunteer at Beth Sholom Home. In 1998, Mrs. Shipowitz received a "Woman of Valor" award. Survivors include a son, Stanley and his wife, Helene Shipowitz; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews. A chapel service will be conducted at noon today at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, by Cantor Jacob Tessler. Interment will follow at B'Nai Israel Cemetery.
