Norfolk Virginian Pilot September 15, 1954

Mrs. Emma Hewitt Shipp, wife of Ernest E. Shipp and daughter of the late 
John M. and Mrs. Laura Murrell Hewitt, died at the residence of her sister, 
Mrs. Elsie Hewitt Marlowe, 208 East 27th Street, yesterday at 5:15 p.m. 
Besides her husband and sister, she is survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. 
Stella Murrell and Mrs. Lucille Shelton, both of Norfolk; two stepsons, 
Andrew Shipp and Floyd Shipp, both of Princess Anne County; another sister, 
Mrs. Grace Hewitt Revelle, and a brother, William John Hewitt, both of 
Norfolk. Mrs. Shipp was a lifelong resident of this vicinity and was 
residing at London Bridge.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home 
tomorrow at 4 p.m.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
