A native of Norfolk, he was the widower of Earlie Mae Sills. Mr. Sills was a retired merchant seaman with more than 35 years of service and was a member of New Hope Church of God in Christ. Survivors include his five daughters, Carolyn Haynes, Evetta Hunt, Sheriane Harris, all of Norfolk, Helen Soloman of St. Mary's, Ga., Jackoline Sills, also of Norfolk; a son, Ronald Sills of Norfolk; two sisters, Darlene Jones and Roberta Sills, both of Seaboard, N.C.; a brother, Nathaniel Sills of Richmond; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Mount Carmel Baptist Church by Bishop C.V. Russell Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The remains will be placed in the church sanctuary at 10 a.m. the day of the service. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
