Norfolk Journal and Guide,July 30,1960
Mrs. Pearl Hicks Simmons, 38, of New York City, formerly of 1224 Roscoe 
street, Norfolk, died in a New York hospital July 17 after a short illness.

Funeral services were conducted July 22 at B. F. King Funeral Home by the Rev. 
W. C. Flanagan, pastor, St. Paul’s CME Church followed by burial in Calvary 
Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons had lived in New York the last five years. She was a native of 
South Mills, NC, daughter of Mrs. Abia Hicks and the late Willie Hicks, and 
lived in Norfolk 18 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s.
