Simmons died very suddenly at the home of L.H. Tucker, Middleton and Mulberry Streets, last evening at 10:30 o'clock, at which place he had been visiting several days from Suffolk. He was a native of Maryland, but had spent more than forty years in this section. He was about seventy years old and is survived by three children, J.W Simmons, Miss Ida Simmons and Albert Simmons, all of Suffolk, where he has spent the last two years. The deceased was a venerable citizen. He was a member of the Berkley town council for a number of terms and was very prominent in fraternal societies. He was the organizer of Thomas Jefferson Council No 109, Jr. O.U.A.M. and was very active in the Odd Fellows and Pythians. He had been a Pythian fifty years. His wife preceded him to the grave about two years ago, since which time he had been living with his son, J.W. Simmons. Tucker, Monday evening, July 25, 1910. at 10:30 o'clock, GEORGE A. SIMMONS, native of Baltimore and more recently of Suffolk, with son, J.W. Simmons, aged 58 years, 1 month and 3 days. Funeral at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON at 5:30 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances invited. FUNERAL OF GEO. A SIMMONS The funeral of the late Geo. A. Simmons will take place at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery this afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. McFaden and Rev. Mr. Delaney, of Suffolk and Rev. W.W. Lear, D.D., of Berkley ward, will conduct the funeral services. The deceased was a devout member of the Methodist church. The remains are at the funeral parlors of Funeral Director Cox in Berkley Avenue. The several fraternal orders of which the deceased was a member will attend the service in a body.
