Norfolk Journal and Guide, Saturday, Apr. 8,1939
Burton Simmons, 57, of 907 Wide Street, died in a local hospital, March 25, and
his funeral was held from Hale’s Chapel with Rev. D. Y. Campbell officiating on
March 28.  He is a native of Fayetteville, NC and lived here for 10 years.  He
made his home with his foster-daughter, Mrs. Maggie Askew.  Interment in Paige
Cemetery, Berkley.
