The services were conducted by Rev. F. W. Williams, pastor of the Fourth Street Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, former pastor of Queen Street Baptist Church, of Norfolk, VA, assisted by Rev. Harvey M. Johnson, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church; Rev. P. P. Eaton, pastor of Queen Street Baptist Church, and Rev. F. D. Nance, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hattie Joe, sang very touchingly, “Tell Mother I’ll Be There.” Rev. P. P. Eaton sang very softly “Jesus Lover of My Soul.” Pallbearers were: R. Strong, B. McIver, F. HIcks, J. Landford, C. Perry, and W. Askew. Floral tributes were beautiful and numerous. Mrs. Simmons was a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, but for sixteen years had been a resident of Norfolk, VA. She is survived by three sons, two daughters, three granddaughters and six great grand children. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
