Gay of 1146 Rodgers St., Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. after a short illness. A native of Norfolk, she spent most of her life in the Chesapeake area. She was the widow of Pearl Thomas Simpkins and a daughter of James E. and Mrs. Martha Harmon Lambert. She was a member of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church and its Ladies Bible Class, Women's Society of Christian Service and Mary McAden Circle. Besides Mrs. Gay, surviving are a granddaughter, Mrs. Fred M. Minschew, and a grandson, Thomas A. Gay, both of Chesapeake; and three great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Eason. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her daughter.
