A son of James Daniel and Mrs. Molly Feathers Simpkins, he was a native of Montgomery County and he lived in the South Norfolk area 61 years, lately at 1424 Chesapeake Ave. He was employed by Norfolk & Western Railway 47 years, retiring as a car foreman in 1948. He was a member of Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church and Beacon Bible Class. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Francis A. Gay of South Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Semple of Norfolk, Mrs. Ola S. Grayson of Christiansburg and Mrs. Mellie S. Walters of Roanoke; a brother, Cuba H. Simpkins of Norfolk; and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Lyle H. Youell of Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
