Mrs. Simpson, a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., was the widow of Edward Simpson. She was a member and deaconess of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Survivors include four daughters, Clarice D. Johnson and Sharon Shabazz, both of Norfolk, Carolyn A. Griffin of Portsmouth and Alice L. Davis of Hampton; five sons, Joseph G. Durham of Bronx, N.Y., Steve E. Durham, John M. Durham, Milton L. Davis and Farrod Shahid, all of Norfolk; her stepmother, Naomi Davis of Norfolk; a sister, Alverta Spann of Chicago; four brothers, William P. Davis of Norfolk, Johnathan Davis of Chesapeake, James L. Davis of Newport News and Robert T. Davis of Forestville, Md.; 25 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Thomas Quinlan. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. There will be a Wake service from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Graves Funeral Home.
