Simpson Is Found Dead At Home John Calhoun Simpson, aged 66 years and fifteen days, died this morning at 2:30 o'clock at his home, 18 Poplar Avenue, Berkley, after a brief illness. He was born at Hertford, N.C. and had lived here forty five years. He was a son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Jane McNider Simpson. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mabyn Simpson and the following children: Mrs. W. Perry Moore, J. Page Simpson, Miss Mabyn Simpson, Miss Virginia M. Simpson, Miss Helen Gray Simpson and Grillet C. Simpson; two grandchildren: W. Perry Moore and J. Page Simpson, Jr.; one brother, Rev. T. McNider Simpson, D.D. He was a consistent member of Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church and also of the board of stewards of that church. He was the third and one of the oldest members of Berkley lodge, A.F. and A.M. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Memorial Methodist Church and will be conducted by Rev. J.T. Bosman, D.D., pastor of Larchmont Methodist Church and Rev. W.H. Osborn, D.D. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. Simpson was found dead in his bed this morning at 6:30 o'clock and Dr. J.C. Sleet, who was hastily summoned, pronounced death to have been due to embolism. Mr. Simpson was apparently in good health yesterday and was able to attend to his duties at the plant and after returning home last evening was able to cut the grass on his lawn. He was taken suddenly ill later in the evening but his condition was not thought to be serious. He had been in feeble health for some time prior to his sudden illness yesterday, but was thought to be improving. Mr. Simpson was twice married, his first wife being Miss Fannie Burwell Meade, granddaughter of the late Bishop William Meade of the Episcopal Church.
