In the daily walks of this young lady she ever exhibited these traits which marked her as a special favorite of her associates; and the home circle, of which she was the life and centre upon which the love and affection of her devoted parents, brothers and sisters converged, are left to realize that the cheerful voice of Phiney has ceased to echo through the halls of that once happy home, now desolate. Nor can we scarcely realize that less than thirty-six hours have elapsed between the moment when we acknowledged her maidenly, modest recognition on the street and the moment when we bore her lifeless form, wrapped in the chilly embrace of Death, to the couch from which she will be borne forever. To her bereaved parents we tender our sincere condolence. **************************************************************************** The funeral of Miss Josephine Simpson, third daughter of Samuel Simpson, Esq., occurred at St. Paul's Chapel, (of which the deceased was an exemplary member) yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. The rector, the Rev. Robert Gatewood, conducted the services in the beautiful and impressive language of the Episcopal ritual for the dead, after which the remains were borne from the chancel to the hearse by her young friends in life, Messrs. Richard Tatem, Thomas Lilliston, Arthur Worthington, Lewis Jones, Edward Tatem and Ernest Graves, and by them deposited in the silent tomb, where quietly she rests from her labors, awaiting the moment of a reunion with the loved ones of earth.
