He had been ill for some time. A native of Princess Anne County, he was employed at the Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, as a driver test instructor and license inspector for the government. He was a member of Norfolk Lodge No. 32, I.O.O.F., and its Encampment, and a member of Knotts Island Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillian Ross Simpson; one daughter, Mrs. George R. Sargeant, who is en route with her husband to the West Coast; his father, Edward J. Simpson, of Princess Anne County; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Resa Peters, of New York City; Mrs. Ruth Sorey, of Oceana; Mrs. Freda Dozier, of Princess Anne County, and Mrs. Myrtle Knoldes; three brothers, R.L. Simpson, of Norfolk; Linwood Simpson, of Terra Haute, Ind., and Harvey Simpson, of Baltimore, Md. The body was removed to the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home.
