SIMPSON DIES IN HOSPITAL Funeral Services for Well-Known Lumber and Pulpwood Dealer Today John Page Simpson, lumber and pulpwood dealer, prominent in church, fraternal and civic circles, died yesterday morning at 3 o'clock at a local hospital after an illness of one week. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Larchmont Methodist Church, the Rev. W.P. Watkins, pastor, and the Rev. John T. Bosman, presiding elder of the Norfolk District, officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, Mr. Simpson had been in the lumber business here for 25 years and was president of the Eastern Wood Corporation, with offices in the Law Building. He was the son of the late John C. and Mrs. Fannie B. Meade Simpson. Mr. Simpson was vice president of the board of stewards of Larchmont Methodist Church; past master of Berkley Lodge 167, A.F. & A.M.; and a member of Ionic Chapter 46, Royal Arch Masons; Grice Commandery, Knights Templar and Khedive Temple of the Mystic Shrine. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fannie Will Simpson; two sons, John Page Simpson, Jr. and Howard Simpson; one sister, Mrs. W. Perry Moore; a stepmother, three half-sisters and a half brother. He was 49 years old. The body will be taken this morning from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Brother, 631 Westover avenue, to the family residence, 1310 Buckingham avenue.
