BODY OF JOHN SIMPSON SENT HERE FOR INTERMENT

The body of the late John Jacob Simpson, who is reported to have committed 
suicide in Newport News yesterday, arrived here yesterday afternoon and is now 
at the home of his sister, Mrs. Harry W. Cobb, in the Hanbury flats in First 
street.  The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Simpson, deceased, and 
was a native of Canada, but had been residing in Berkley more than 30 years.  He 
was nearly 49 years old and unmarried.  He was a member of Norfolk Lodge of 
Elks, No. 38, the Masonic Fraternity of Berkley, and the Marine Engineers 
Association.  He is survived by two sisters, and three brothers, Harry, Geo. W. 
and Samuel Simpson, all of Norfolk.  The deceased was well known on this side of 
the river.  The funeral notice will appear later.
Brothers of the deceased last evening discredited the suicide theory on the 
ground that he never brooded over anything, also the statement the was a student 
of Ingersoll and that he brooded over the fear of losing his position.

SIMPSON--Suddenly, in Newport News, Va., December 3, 1909, at 9 a.m., JOHN JACOB 
SIMPSON, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Simpson, aged 40 years and 8 
months.
Funeral THIS (Sunday) AFTERNOON, December 5th, at 3 o'clock, from the residence 
of his sister, Mrs. H.W. Cobb, First street.  Interment, Magnolia Cemetery,  
Friends of the family invited.
