Funeral services for John W. Skinner were conducted April 26 at 2 p.m. at 
Pretlow’s Funeral home by the Rev. D. P.  Butts, pastor of St. Marks Christian 
church.

He died April 22 at his residence, 1852 Rosewood court, Oakleaf Park, after a 
short illness at the age of 58 years.

He was a native of Princess Anne county, VA, the son of the late John and Mrs. 
Mary Skinner, and was a self-employed contract laborer.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Skinner;  four daughters, Mrs. Rose Patterson, 
Mrs. Mary Burnside of Philadelphia PA, Mrs. Alma Vinson and Mrs. Evelyn Goffney 
of Norfolk;  and one son, Linwood Cuffee of Norfolk.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Pretlow’s funeral home in charge of 
arrangements.
