Skinner, 78, of 1507 Manson street, the husband of Mrs. Janie Garner Skinner, died in a hospital after a short illness. A native of Moyock, NC, he lived here 71 years. He was a son of William H. and Mrs. Addie Ferebee Skinner. He worked in Shop 72 of Norfolk Naval Shipyard and retired after 26 years. He was a member of Berkley Elks Lodge 12 and a stewartd of St. Thomas AME Zion Church. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca S. McCoy, two grandsons, Gregory J. McCoy and Gerauld J. McCoy, and a great-grandson, Gregory J. McCoy Jr., all of Norfolk. The body was taken to Pretlow Funeral Home. Services were held in St. Thomas AME Zion Church by the Rev. G. L. Scott. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Pretlow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
