He was a dutiful member of The First Calvary Baptist Church for forty years, and the chorister of the choir for thirty years. He was highly respected by all who knew him. On Tuesday, June, the First, the funeral was led to First Calvary Baptist Church at 2:30 o’clock by The College Band and several organizations. Services were conducted by Rev. O. J. Allen, the pastor, who spoke of his quiet, christian character, and how willingly he would always discharge his duty when called on. Mr. Jerry Anderson rendered the first bass solo, taught by Prof. T. C. Skinner. Mrs. Mable P. Shell, sweetly sang a solo. By his request his choir did sweetly sing his favorite song, Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Dwelling Place.
