J.H. Skinner, a well known citizen, died at his residence, No. 7 Dartmouth Street, yesterday afternoon at 3 :45 o'clock. Capt. Skinner was one of the oldest members of the Virginia Pilot's Association, being in his 65th year at the time of his death. He had been confined to his house for the past eight years, and to his bed about a year. During the war Capt. Skinner did service in the commissary department of the Confederacy, being stationed at Belle Isle, near Richmond. He was a member of Orient Lodge, Knights of Honor, and of Wyandatte Tribe of Red Men and leaves a wife, three sons and two daughters to mourn his taking off. Deceased was the son of the lamented Capt. Thomas Skinner, who years ago commanded at different periods the steamers Jamestown and Roanoke, plying between this city and New York. The funeral will take place from the residence this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.
