Small of Norfolk, died at St. Vincent's Hospital at 3:30 o'clock yesterday morning, aged 27 years. His demise follows a lingering and painful illness of more than twelve months' duration. When his health began to decline he went to Catawba, Va., and remained there until his condition made it necessary to remove him to the hospital at Roanoke, where he began to improve, and it was thought that his health would be restored, but a month or more ago his condition again changed for the worse and his parents decided to have him brought home. He was brought to Norfolk from Roanoke Wednesday and was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where he peacefully breathed his last at the hour named, yesterday morning. For several years the deceased held a clerkship in the Norfolk post office, where he was held in high esteem by the post office authorities for the faithful and efficient discharge of his duties. He was a young man of unblemished character and was widely known and universally esteemed. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and was prominent in the work of the Baraca Union of that church. He was also a member of the Improved Order of Red Men. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother and one sister and other near relatives. The funeral will be held from the residence of his parents, 11 Grigsby place, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and will be attended by the Red Men. **************************************** SMALL - At St. Vincent's Hospital, Friday, May 12, at 3:30 a.m., BYRON B. son of Mary L. and Joseph R.
