B17 Thomas Dempsey Small, 36, of 1236 St. Julian avenue, a veteran of World War II who died Aug. 30 in McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, was given final rites Monday at Mother Church of God in Christ. Bishop D. Lawrence Williams officiated at the service. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. Mr. Small was an employee of Dick Turner Trucking Company. A native of Norfolk, he was a member of Mother Church. Survivors include his parents, Eureka Small and Mrs. Burnetta Small, his wife, Mrs. Goldenia Small; a daughter, Miss Sandra Small; two sons, Tommy and Guy A. Small of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Newby and Mrs. Margaret Cherry of Norfolk; and a brother, Roosevelt Davis, also of Norfolk.
