Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 13, 1945

Clarence J. Smith, son of the late Peter and Mrs. Mary Franco Smith, died 
suddenly Thursday night at 11 o'clock at the residence, 333 West Freemason 
Street. Mr. Smith, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, was educated at Georgetown 
University. He was associated for many years with his father in the firm of 
Peter Smith. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church.
Surviving him are three sisters, Miss Mary M. Smith, Miss Constance A. Smith and 
Miss Rosa E. Smith; a brother, E. Vincent Smith, all of Norfolk; a niece, Miss 
Dorothy M. Smith, of California and a nephew, Comdr X. Martin Smith, USN. 
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Monday morning at 10 
o'clock. Interment will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery.
