Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark October 18, 1927

Mrs. Mary Bruce Smith, aged 86 years, widow of Laban J. Smith and daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. Robert Bruce, of Scotland, died yesterday morning at 4:40 o'clock, at the 
residence, 341 Hamilton Avenue. She was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk 
and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mamie Smith Ford; one son, Sidney E. Smith 
and a great-granddaughter, Helen Sidney Ford. Services will be conducted at H.D. 
Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason Street, tomorrow afternoon at 
2:30 o'clock. The Rev. D.N. McLauchlin, D.D., pastor of the Second Presbyterian 
Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
