Virginian Pilot November 21, 1908

Mrs. Alice Smith, relict of the late L.C. Smith, passed away at the home of her 
son, F.O. Smith, 25 Falkland Street, at 12:50 a.m. yesterday after a lingering 
illness in the 70th year of her age. She was a native of Manchester, England, 
but had been a resident of Norfolk for half a century, where she was well known 
and highly esteemed for her many endearing qualities and her death will be 
received with many expressions of sorrow by those who knew her only to love and 
admire. She leaves two children, Mrs. Fred Lowell and F.O. Smith. She was for 
many years a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
The funeral will be held from the residence of her son at 3 o'clock this 
afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. James M. Owens of St. Paul's Church and 
Rev. D.W. Howard of St. Luke's Church.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Alice Smith was held from the residence of her son, 
F.O. Smith, 25 Falkland Street, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. There was a 
profusion of lovely floral designs in attestation of the love and esteem in 
which the deceased was held in the community.
The service was conducted by Rev. James M. Owens of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 
of which the deceased was a member, and Rev. David W. Howard of St. Luke's 
Episcopal Church. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. Following were the 
pallbearers: John Wilkins, C.H. Consolvo, George W. McCoy, W.H. Lee, William 
Holman, C.J. Rudolph, James V. Trehy and H.D. Oliver.
