Charles Sumner Smith, 82, son of the late L. Waddy and Mrs. Virginia Caroline Cleg
Clegg Smith, died at a local hospital last night at 8 o’clock.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, residing at 7498 Maury Arch at the
the time of his death. He was a member and an elder of Park Avenue Presbyterian Chu
Church. 
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joseph H. Baker, of Norfolk; two sons, Jo
John Kauffman Smith, of Norfolk, and the Rev. Harold Clegg Smith, of Atlanta; fo
four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at noon at the H.D. Oliver Funeral C
Chapel by the Rev. T.T. Fowler, pastor of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, a
and the Rev. S.K. Emurian. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
