X. SMITH The Well Known Young Lawyer Passes Suddenly Away at His Home MEETING OF THE BAR CALLED TODAY The Business Men's Association Appoints a Committee to Attend the Funeral at St. Mary's Church Tomorrow Mr. Peter Xavier Smith, one of the best known young lawyers of Norfolk, died at his home, No. 33 Freemason Street, yesterday morning at 10:45 o'clock, of pneumonia, aged thirty-three years. Mr. Smith had been sick but a comparatively short time, but was taken with a relapse Sunday night, which ended with his death as stated. The deceased was a son of Mr. Peter Smith, the well known Main Street dry goods merchant, and leaves a young widow and two children. He was educated at St. Mary's Academy in this city and at Georgetown College. He entered upon the practice of his profession in Norfolk in 1885 and at once took a prominent position among the young members of the bar. Besides practicing in the courts of this city and state he had practiced before the Supreme Court of the United States. Mrs. Smith was formerly Miss Edith Martin, of Silver City, New Mexico. Mr. Smith was a prominent member of the bar, being a commissioner in chancery of the Law and Chancery court, which adjourned yesterday in respect to his memory. A meeting of the Bar of Norfolk and Portsmouth will be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock in the Law and Chancery Courtroom to take suitable action on his death. The funeral will take place from St. Mary's Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Thomas H. Willcox, President of the Business Men's Association, has appointed the following committee to attend the funeral of Mr. Peter X. Smith, who was a member of the Association: Hon. M. Glennan, Judge W.N. Portlock, Judge T.S. Garnett and Messrs. M.W. Talbot, R.B. Cooke, Walter Sharp, W.A. Young, George C. Billups, Thomas L. Dornin, W.
